WPP’s Geometry agency is seeking a Strategist –Omnichannel Shopper Marketing. The position is based in the Paris area but the scope is Europe Middle East and Africa. This is a great hands-on opportunity to join an outstanding, internationally-networked agency team and influence iconic brands across various categories (Oral Care, Personal Care, Home Care, Consumer Healthcare to name a few).

The Omnichannel Shopper Marketing agency team for our global and regional clients is fully-integrated into multidisciplinary teams consisting of people from various WPP agencies, operating across multiple marketing disciplines (consumer advertising, shopper marketing, eCommerce, media, healthcare professionals, etc.). Everyone sits together in one building, enabling speed, efficiency and connectivity.

Geometry is the world’s largest and most international brand activation and shopper marketing agency with more than 3 500 people across 80 offices. In Paris, Geometry partners with a diverse portfolio of clients including Action Contre la Faim, Colgate-Palmolive, Danone, Marionnaud, Piaget, Sanofi and Se Loger, either directly or in close collaboration with WPP companies such as GroupM, JWT, Ogilvy, Peclers and VMLY&R.


Reports to: Managing Director
Client teams: primarily Colgate-Palmolive and Sanofi – but not exclusively

Leads and leverages client research, secondary tools, social observations and agency intelligence against client business. Owns and maintains all intelligence in a fluid shopper/retailer knowledge and intelligence library. Ensures agency success by understanding behavior to inspire behavior-changing ideas and inform strategy.
• Partner with agency teams to understand client requests and ensure the necessary information is received to deliver on requests
o Attend and participate in agency meetings
o Follow through on requested deliverables within specified timelines with client, agency business, and project objectives in mind
• Contribute to and prepare key elements for briefing sessions and ongoing work and brief the creative team
o Utilize the appropriate planning tools to identify information to help the client or account teams best address planning requests
o Research facts sourced from client-owned, third party/syndicated sources
o Distill facts into key relevant background information to inform the creative brief
o Define project opportunity and specific insight with most important behavioral points of influence
o Work with account team to draft/refine the pivotal brief for creative kick-off
o Brief the creative team
o Bring supporting research documentation to all creative briefings
o Collaborate across departments to help teams during project kick-offs
• Help identify the direction or strategic opportunity by leveraging mechanisms and key planning tools and provide to account team
o Identify channel/category themes and trends; create materials to be distributed to the account team
o Locate and communicate channel or key retailer preferences
o Help locate key insights and frame POVs with support from manager
• Work with Senior Account Director and integrated team Strategists to conduct and analyze research related to programs and ad hoc requests; combine key case studies into general support documentation
• Develop and maintain expertise with key strategies of top formats and retailers in EMEA
o Maintain expertise with key retail strategies/priorities and provide guidance for application of this expertise within key client’s business
o Represent the voice of the retailer and its shoppers within the agency to articulate shopper communication priorities
o Demonstrate the agency’s depth of expertise within retail strategy and shopper activation
• Manage the overall process through which the agency completes competitive/category/channel reviews
o Partner with members from across the agency to source relevant data points
o Manage the scope and deliverable
o Support the completion of the learning summary / reporting of findings
o Oversee/ensure socialization of learning across agency teams
• Partner with Senior Account Director and integrated team strategists to develop planning bids and proposals as needed
o Draft proposals for internal survey projects
o Assist in proposal development
o Coordinate cost estimates and other details for project plans and timelines
o Manage approved supplier lists and information
• Handle other duties as assigned by Managing Director



• Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, behavioral studies field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• Full English proficiency in a working environment
• 2-3 years of experience in at least one aspect of strategic planning or related field, preferably with shopper or retail marketing experience
• Applied experience with database tools and systems
• Working knowledge of key priorities, retail-specific guidelines, and strategic initiatives of top retailers in EMEA
• Proactive approach, demonstrated through actions such as:
o Identifying opportunities and solutions to be helpful without being prompted
o Looking for and taking on additional work during lull periods
o Working with Account teams to identify opportunities to address client needs outside of client requests
• Understanding of human behavior and how it impacts shopper decision making
• Ability to communicate clearly, thoroughly and succinctly both verbally and in written form to build relationships internally and with the client teams
• Ability to analyze results, interpret data, draw sound conclusions, and develop insightful and actionable recommendations
• Can present material in a logical and strategic manner tailored to the audience
• Strong attention to detail and organization, demonstrated through actions such as:
o Effectively proofing own and others’ work to ensure accuracy
Actively and effectively managing timelines and deliverables of multiple projects and ad hoc requests simultaneously to meet pre-determined deadlines.
